Local Places of Interest

Greenlands is surrounded by rural footpaths linking up with the Essex Way in Great Tey. Chalkney Woods nearby is an ancient woodland which is abundant with birds, flora and fauna. We often see deer, foxes and badgers in the fields surrounding the farm. Artists will find inspiration in the beautiful Essex countryside.

We can provide brochures for a variety of local attractions.

If you are interested in gardens, then there are Marks Hall close by, Beth Chatto at Elmstead Market and Hyde Hall near Chelmsford.

For historic properties there is Melford Hall and Kentwell Hall, both near Sudbury, or Layer Marney Tower, Hedingham Castle and Cressing Barns. Further afield our visitors have enjoyed Audley End and Ickworth House. For the National Trust enthusiast there is Coggeshall Grange Barn and Coggeshall Paycocks within 10 minutes drive.

Pretty villages are near by at Lavenham, Kersey and Clare, as well as market towns such as Halstead and Sudbury. The list continues with historic Colchester and its famous zoo, the seaside at Clacton and Mersea, and Constable Country at Dedham.

For the shoppers, there are factory villages at Braintree Freeport and Clacton.

We are within one hour’s drive of both Harwich port and Stansted airport, and the mainline railway station from Marks Tey is 10 minutes drive away which has a direct rail link to London Liverpool Street and Stratford.

We hope that there is something for everyone.
